Materials: Virtual Martian environment, experimental habitats, atmospheric simulation
By 2030, low-cost migration to Mars is projected to become a reality. In preparation, this project explores Earth-based simulation environments to test the viability of living on Mars. Given the planet's harsh conditions—including extreme cold, high radiation, and a distinct day-night cycle—we design and prototype Martian-style architecture and infrastructure. Using Unreal Engine, a virtual Martian environment is created to simulate atmospheric and spatial conditions. Within this space, experimental habitats and installations are developed and tested, allowing us to study the challenges of extraterrestrial living and advance architectural strategies for future Martian colonisation.
